Can of Gas Metalworks — laser shop and workshop in Bow, from sketch to price

Can of Gas Metalworks is an architectural metal workshop in Bow, East London — stairs, furniture, doors, gallery plinths and sculpture. The live digital front at canofgas.qtech.hr takes a client from a photo or drawing to a quote, and now also to a guide laser-cut price from a DXF/SVG file.

Why I built it

Qtech Studio builds software and automation for production. Can of Gas is a workshop + laser shop concept: the same space that cuts and assembles steel also needs a clear client flow — enquiry, quote, job tracking and a guide cut price — without Jack retyping the same details from a phone. Same approach as Plussys or navodnjavanje.hr: a product that shortens the path from intent to the shop floor.

How it works

Can of Gas — send a job
Step 1: send a photo, CAD or a dimensioned sketch — enough to start.
  1. Send a job — phone photo, CAD or a rough sketch with dimensions
  2. Get a quote — the workshop prices material, hours, finish and install
  3. We make it — laser cut + traditional fabrication: steel, stainless, brass, bronze or aluminium
  4. We install — Greater London, often on site; workshop hours Mon–Thu 9–6, Fri 9–5

On /laser a client can get a guide price from a file (DXF/SVG are measured; other formats with a dimension). Typically:

  • Materials — mild steel, stainless, aluminium, brass; plate ~1–10 mm
  • Same building — deburr and powder; delivery Greater London
  • Guide rates (shop estimate, confirmed after nest) — e.g. plate from £4.20/kg + nest, laser £145/h (min £85), deburr £62/h, powder £52/m² black

The goal is not to replace the maker — it is so Jack and the client share the same language faster: file → number → confirmation.
